Jericho Down by Lady Kahi

Run around we in Jericho
Walls falling down in Jericho
Battles I’m winning in Jericho
What you doing down in Jericho
Jesus said I should take the land, a Don even care what your game plan
Obstacles, I’m stuck in my lane, but they going down, that’s His game plan
I know what’s popping, yeah I know the popa, when He go before me I prosper
My limitations are His invitations, we go in divide and conquer
Me I go round round seven times, shout to the rooftop
Hear that sound sound the walls go down mic drop

The marching they marching around
They know they don’t conquer the ground
And now they waiting for the sound
Shout, bring Jericho down *2

Bring Jericho down
Bring bring Jericho down *4

No one can stop me, not even my doubt, and I’m casting down every thought that’s exalting itself above the command of the Lord over my life, I’ll be living my life to the fullest
Fullest, I’m rocking with the realest
I’m on the side of the illest
No one can stand against me, no pride when I sit with the meekest, meekest
I’m blest, my chains are falling down
I rest, he took away my frown
The test, already passed got a crown
Impressed, by how this is going down

What is your Jericho?
What are those walls
We be breaking down every chain in the name of Jesus,
Pause, can you hear that
There’s an army rising, and we won’t be dying
So the enemy better take a seat no trying
So my past, I see you fall
Depression, I see you fall
Doubt and fear, I see you fall
Bitterness, I see you fall
Cz the one on my side is victorious so step down
And I’m delivered it’s soo glorious I take my crown

Soulties … A Devotional Study

Its 2A.m in the morning, I start having breathing complications and is so uncomfortable that I have to wake my folks to rush me to hospital. Minutes past three a.m, am in a hospital bed fighting for my life, with an excess of a wrong prescription. However by God’s grace I pull through and at six, am back to the house. My old man would hear nothing about me going outside the house let alone to school. I am not sure I can also handle the pain and the class so I stay indoors.

But in the midst of the pain shut up in my bones, I do something that may seem crazy,… I begin to have a craving, a just unending desire, to FELLOWSHIP WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT. Yes you had it right. I take my Bible books and begin to end my long research on Soulties.

It moves me to more brokenness, and I can’t keep it to myself, so I walk to social media on my page (@heartbeakfke), and begin sharing under the tag #Soulties. After am done, I get a couple of DMs, of people who wish to share the #Ties_Story with me. It can’t get any better than this. As I sit in my room looking how much God had honoured me with His presence, I am compelled to do this write-ups perhaps to reach out to one more person out there and to cause a change to their lives all glory to God.

Sorry, it may be a lengthy post, but worth a read.

A soul tie is an emotional bond or connection that unites you with someone else. You and I can become bound to aperson through your/my soul. Have you found yourself tormented by thoughts about a person, excessively wondering about them, checking on them, rehearsing times with them? If so, you have soul ties. Have you grieved over a severed relationship with someone you were once close to? If so, you probably have soul ties.

Soul ties are formed through close friendships, through vows, commitments and promises, and through physical intimacy. Not all soul ties are bad. God wants us to have healthy relationships that build us up, provide wisdom, and give godly counsel. God will strategically bring good relationships into our lives to form healthy soulties. “When David had finished speaking to Saul, the soul of Jonathan was knit with the soul of David, and Jonathan loved him as his own life” (1 Sam. 18:1 (AMP). In contrast, Satan always brings counterfeits into our lives to form unhealthy soul ties.

A few ways unhealthy soul ties can be formed include:
*Abusive relationships (physically, sexually, emotionally, verbally)
*Adulterous affairs
*Sex before marriage
*Obsessive entanglements with a person (giving them more authority in your life than you give to God)
*Controlling relationships.

This could be in addition to others. It brings me to a point of finding out what then are the indicators of a soulties. In a nutshell. I will share only four :

A. Feeling Confused:
When you are outside the will of God in a
particular relationship, you will experience confusion. Your feelings will tell you one thing; your spirit will tell you another. That’s where the confusion comes in. You need to remember that God is the author of peace Himself not confusion.

B. Feeling miserable:
When we persist in doing something that we know God is not in agreement with, we will experience a type of misery that doesn’t go away. You may feel uneasy inside, extreme anxiety, sorrow or pain. You may feel disgusted by what you’re doing, yet feel powerless to change your situation.

C. Tormented mind:
The mind of Christ is one that is at peace no matter what the circumstances. When Satan has invaded our souls through wrong soul ties, our minds will not be at rest. This is where your battle takes place. Is your mind constantly replaying images of the past and rehearsing previous conversations like a broken record? Do your thoughts produce fear or make you feel unclean?

D. Stagnation:                                                                                                                                                                              Lastly, If you feel like you have been dealing with a situation for far too long and nothing seems to help you get beyond it, remember this phrase: God will not advance your instructions beyond your last act of disobedience. If you don’t fully obey what God is telling you to do, you will never move beyond your current circumstances.

But thanks be to God, there is hope for everyone of us, I used to think this were only stories, I now know that, Soulties are real. That shirt he gave you that you cling on daily when you miss him, that bracelet you are not feeling like you ever want to let go, could be the physical link you have remaining.  Well David says that God, “RESTORES HIS SOUL”.  Its the same prayer I feel I need to make for myself today and all of us.

There are 4 Key steps to breaking soul ties:
1. Acknowledge
2. Confess and Repent
3. Forgive
4. Break and Remove
First, we need to acknowledge that there is a problem . Ask the Lord to show you who you have ungodly soul ties with. Make a list if you need to.
Secondly, we need to confessand repent of our sins . This may involve finding a Godly accountability partner that you can confess to and who can help you walk through the process. It maybe be a church counselor, pastor or elder or a family member.

Next, we need to find forgiveness. We need to accept God’s forgiveness, we need to forgive ourselves and lastly, we need to forgive our former partners or abusers . Remember, “ Unforgiveness is like drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. ”

Finally, you need to verbalize a prayer to break off the soul ties . You need to speak it out! Life and death are in the power of the tongue so when you speak out you are declaring with your mouth the power of Christ to break the ties to your past. You must also do an inventory and remove any mementoes, gifts or souvenirs from those past relationships

Hope this will help just one person, change just one person, and it is me and you for His work to advance.

It was a stroll. An ‘eye’ stroll. A glimpse outside the window, four floors down! An empty field is what I saw…a man leaning on a bending tree too. Fast glance to my left, trees were swaying lazily, the rotation of windmills on the horizon stole my attention, and then I spotted a ‘Squishy’ lorry.  All in a matter of seconds!

I remember that dull afternoon and something in my mind unlocked. You know, in life what you choose to see matters. We had this analogy about the glass being half-full and half-empty and it all trickles down to the life’s ordeals and what we choose to learn from them. This reminds me of a few months back when I was in town and I passed by these two lovely ladies who were very excited to see each other. I could feel their excitement because of the way they embraced cordially and joy was engraved all over their faces. “Happy new year…” they both told one another!

As I walked past the ladies, I was already wondering how they would still be wishing one another a happy new year in April (already four months down the line). How? It seemed odd to me to still see a new year when it was already four months down. It became real to me that actually that’s the same way we view our life’s status quo time and again.

Have you ever recovered from an illness but all you remember is the pain and the turmoil you went through? It may not be an illness but may be God saved you from a serious accident but all you recall are the bruises and the injuries you had! It’s similar to when soldiers go to battle and only few of them survive. Would it be great for them to keep dwelling in the past? Would it be great to keep hearing their sad ordeals and how some of them broke their arms and legs during the war? With God it doesn’t work like that. Sometimes God sends us to the battle field so that later on we can be remnants to tell of the salvation story. Perspective!

They say in the ant’s house the dew is a flood. They also say that what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. What do you see? Our illusion detemines our vision. This reality has really compelled my heart to write about what we see. It is just to remind us to see through God’s eyes and not our own.  What do you see and what does God really want you to see? It’s crystal clear to me that our perspective in life is determined by the level of our faith. Why are you strong today even after such a hurting moment in the past? Why are you still standing even after the hard falls?

I’m not an exception either. As I write this I’m challenging myself to see through the eyes of the Most High too. Where He sees victory for me I’ll choose to see it too. Where God sees tranquility I won’t allow the fierce storm to steal my peace. I’ll choose to see a new beginning even after it all seems to be coming to an end. In the middle of the roughest week I’ll choose to see a fresh new morning… even when all is dark and quiet. It’s also during those times when the rain hits hard, that I’ll rejoice because my worries will be washed away:)

“Small things become big and big things become small when life is put into the right perspective”

"Life is all about how God sees it. Don’t be afraid of new beginnings.
Don’t fear when defeat steals your joy. Look up and leave it to the Most High.
Learn His perspective language!"

  • Numbers 13: 30-33,“Caleb told the people to be quiet and listen to Moses. Caleb said, “Let’s go now and take possession of the land. We should be more than able to conquer it.” But the men who had gone with him said, “We can’t attack those people! They’re too strong for us!” So they began to spread lies among the Israelites about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored is one that devours those who live there. All the people we saw there are very tall.  We saw Nephilim there. (The descendants of Anak are Nephilim.) We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that’s how we must have looked to them.”
  • Acts 3:6, “Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
  • 1 Samuel 17: 38-40, “Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off.  Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.”

See you on April 10th!!

Let Music Preach KE will be touring various churches with the goal of ‘Awakening Christians’ to the realization of their true nature in Christ. The tours will also be in preparation of Bankrupt Concert.

On the focus of being awakened, let me go over a few things. Our first awakening is when we accept Christ in our lives; when we put on the helmet of salvation upon the realization that Jesus is the only way. Only in Him do we attain true life. Psalm 36:9 “For with you is the fountain of life; in your light do we see light.”

Many Christians do not know the position that God has placed them.

Psalms 8:4-5 says: “What is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of [earthborn] man that you care for him? Yet you have made him but a little lower than God [or heavenly beings], and you have crowned him with glory and honor.” Man has been placed above any other creature existing on the earth. God did not just call him into being. He used his hands to create and mould him. Man was then given the authority to dominate. You do have the power to dominate over curses, over sickness and over poverty. Without the knowledge of who you are, you will remain in the conditions of a slave when your father is the king. Living in ignorance leaves many complaining that they have been abandoned and that God does not care. This is far from the truth you only need to seek him.

When we live in sin, our flesh is alive and our Spirit is dead. A life of holiness and fellowship with the Holy Spirit keeps our inner man awakened at all times. The enemy can never catch you unawares. Isaiah 64:7 says : “And no one calls on Your name and awakens and bestirs himself to take and keep hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have delivered us into the [consuming] power of our iniquities.”

The supernatural realm excites me. It is however impossible to access it if you are not one with God. Acts 12:7 speaks of Peter’s extraordinary experience with an angel: “And suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared [standing beside him], and a light shone in the place where he was. And the angel gently smote Peter on the side and awakened him, saying, Get up quickly! And the chains fell off his hands.” Herod was afflicting the church because it pleased the Jews. He arrested Peter and was to present him to the Jews and the night before that happened, those with him were gathered together in prayer. An angel was sent to the rescue of Peter. Funny thing is that the guards were chained together to him but they never saw this coming. When Peter followed the angel’s instructions, he was led to freedom. You have to realize that God is always speaking. The difference is whether you are sensitive to hear His voice and whether you obey when He speaks.

My challenge to you comes from Zechariah 4:7 “And the angel who talked with me came again and awakened me, like a man who is wakened out of his sleep.” Will you be found asleep my friend? If you are still asleep, ask the Lord to awaken you and help you become whom He created you to be.

It is said that “Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. I have come to learn that that is true; to some extent. What you are able to form in your mind requires that you have some knowledge. How you see the Lord definitely fits in this criteria. Some see Jesus as a King, others as a friend… get the idea. Your perception of Him is all dependent on how much you know about Him. How much you know Him determines how well you will recognize Him in His workings. It comes a time during the acquisition of knowledge, when you receive a revelation that completely changes your complete picture of who our Lord is. You stop seeing Him in your limited knowledge as you take a hold of this particular revelation of who He is to you and who you are to Him.

I will use my own experience to illustrate this. When I was a child, I used to imagine God to be this very very old person, beard and all. Why? Well, He had existed long before the creation of this earth. However, as I continued delving into His Word, I learnt that our time does not apply to Him. 2 Peter 3:8 (NIV) says: “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day”. He is not limited to what man is. I also got over my misconception and learnt that He is not a God who waits till you sin so that He can punish you, but one who loves us so much to the point of sacrificing His own son to be our redemption even before we knew Him. That’s the reason I testify “Glory to the liberating king who came not to conquer kingdoms but conquer hearts and restore men back to what they were intended for.”

Well, all that is just a building block to what I want to share about in a few words>> ‘Miracle Of Sight’ since I have been asked to explain the meaning by a few of my friends. The ‘Miracle Of Sight’ is about having a revelation of who God is and being able to see Him in His true beauty. This is despite whatever circumstances you are facing. Many people tend to focus on their problems instead of focusing on the one constant who will never change; God.
It is the peeling off of the scales over your eyes that develop out of living a carnal instead of a Spirit led life. It is about being at a point where the only song you recognize is “Holy holy holy ….” just because His sight is just unexplained in human language. It’s all about getting to a place where you can see the truth and realize that the only treasure is what Jesus offers to the world, Himself! And with this conviction you can sincerely cry out: “You can take this world, its joys and its fleeting pleasures but give me Jesus my future hope and my greatest treasure”.
The ultimate crown of it is sharing the vision that God has; seeing people, your surroundings and path in the same way that God does.

I listened to the song #YouCanSaveMe by @BeautifulEulogy and the message just blew me away: “Do the stars disappear when the blind look at the sky or do they simply fail to see what was there the whole time?” Just because you lack the ability to see something does not mean that it ceases to exist.
I will end this blog by challenging you with this question: “Are you blind to what’s before you?” If that’s the case, ask for the ‘Miracle of Sight’ and let the Holy Spirit show you all that you have been missing all along.

#High5ve Review

On Sunday, Verse 5ve Events Limited held their 6th event since 2014. The event dubbed #High5ve was mainly focused on deejay performances. 6 deejays in total were present to keep the show running. @thedjre who had a #Trap set was the first on the decks and started right on time. I do love people who know how to keep time. I have been to events which start 2 hours late disappointing all who got there on time. Anyway, all were treated to his great selection with the likes of Andy Mineo’s music piercing the surrounding. Hehe, people definitely got to know an event was underway in Memorial Park.
Dj Double O took over with some #newskool jams. As the Mcs- Church boy and Manu from Recap hyped the crowd. All the old cats were treated with some back in the day jams by Dj Krowbar. Now the most interesting set was from Mike Muema, an EDM producer from kubamba. As we sampled his Space and Depth EP + a few more remixes. I couldn’t help but laugh myself away as guys tried out some crazy moves.
Dj Mellops ushered in the performances from Dice Crew and Jims and Dims. All kinds of tech gadgets ensured the moment could be replayed again. He eventually completed his #Remix set and Deejay Sanch completed the show with some #Afropop. I believe this was the set with the most energy. With music from the likes of Annette Tenaya, Winky Daily the centre stage was thronged as dance moves were randomly chosen by the MCs and dance krews. If you kept up with all the energy am sure you may as well had your fair share of aching legs once you got home…hehe…but it was definitely worth it.

Verse 5ve organizers Jush and Zack definitely took a risk running a deejay themed event and the result was mindblowing. Well there you have it…a look at the one of best event November has to offer.

Make sure you join the next Verse 5ve event>> #‎SheGot5ve‬ on February 21st 2016. You can follow them via the links below:

[Interview] Inside Kenyan Singing Brothers VKP’s Music, Life & Ministry. | Uganda Gospel Life

Source: [Interview] Inside Kenyan Singing Brothers VKP’s Music, Life & Ministry. | Uganda Gospel Life

A Chat With Kenyan Trio VKP.

VKP is an urban gospel group from Kenya, made up of three blood brothers Fatha Lody (Group Singer) who is the eldest, Walman (Lead Singer) then Trigga (Rapper and Christian Author), the youngest sibling in the group. VKP are initials standing for Vijana Kwa Pulpit, which is a name in the Swahili slang-Sheng, loosely translated as Youths on the Pulpit.

Since inception, VKP have been nominated in th Africa Gospel Music Awards held in London, Groove Awards, Mwafaka and Talanta Awards. It was an absolute honor to interview them and this is how it went down.

It is our very first time to finally get this chance to chat with you, how is VKP?

We appreciate too, the chance to be interviewed by you guys. We have been seeing the good work you do in the gospel music scene in Uganda, kudos guys and keep up.

VKP we are fine, each one of us is doing great on a personal level and musically too. We keep thanking the Lord each day as we get moving closer to our dream of reaching more and more people through our music.

Of course we have been keeping tabs on you especially after the release of Imela which gained good airplay on Christian Radio here in Uganda, what have you been up to since that time?

We appreciate that. Imela is a project we can say was anointed, out of all the songs we have recorded and released, its production, release and airplay was easily facilitated as all the people who were part of the project came through in time and wholeheartedly. And God blessed it all the way; the whole album too is a very good compilation.

Fatha Lody a VKP Group Singer and the eldest of three brothers.

Our debut album TOLOISA, which we launched on 31st May 2015, has received massive support, in print media, album cd buying and also brand growth. Whats keeping us busy is centered on the debut album; the distribution, planning on a few music videos of songs on the album and a few concerts here and there.

Let us take you back a bit. When and how did VKP start? Also tell us why you started out for those who are new to East African Gospel Music.

We came together as a group in December 2011 after recording stints as solo artists. Our musical journey dates way back to 2003 but it is at the beginning of 2012, that VKP released their debut single and video titled Fantasy under the mentor-ship of our producer Patrick Saint P Mbaru.

Also, could you tell us why you started out for those who are new to East African Gospel Music?

Our mission:  We want to cement our position as the best gospel group ever to come out of Kenya; true and deeply rooted in the gospel, professional and out to bring about real social change in our society through our music.

We have been fronting a music style known as SocaPuka, a style we came up with our producer Saint p back in 2011 when the group was starting. It is a fusion of Kapuka (Kenyan sound) and Soca music.

That out-of-the-way, TOLOISA! Can each of you tell us your favorite songs on the album and why?

Trigga from VKP told us what his best song is.

Trigga: My favorite song on the album is Fantasy. It directly brings out the Good News about Jesus Christ our Savior. We narrate how we received Jesus Christ, and found God the Father. Anyone who is worldly and living in sin will get convicted and know that they need Jesus in their lives or be separated from God eternally because Jesus Christ is the only way to the Father and Gods free gift to mankind.  Without holiness, nobody will see God (Hebrews 12:14-15). Christ gives us the grace to live holy lives that please the father. FANTASY brings out this and thats what authentic gospel music is meant for: to draw people to Gods throne of mercy and grace.

Walman: My favorite song is Imela. It speaks out my daily prayer to God

Fatha Lody:  My favorite song is Matata. Personally I’ve gone through a lot of stuff despite my young age (I’m not that young though, hehe) and this song even the time we wrote it I had a lot of stress and personal struggles. It has spoken hope to many who have listened to it, it still does and it will continue to speak to and encourage so many people going through a tough time in their lives. It’s even my phones ring back tone.

How would you describe the state of Gospel Music in your country Kenya?

Fatha lody:  Gospel music has really grown, in terms of the number of new gospel ministers, quality of production too but in terms of message its undergoing a transition. Our gospel music is going back to the basics of gospel music which is to preach the gospel of Christ and bring back people to God.

Trigga: We need to seek God’s face so as to know what He intended authentic Christian Music ministry to be. The current state is saddening because it has turned into an industry driven by cliques and unscrupulous businessmen who are out to mint millions out of the gift meant for ministry. Most music ministers have been taken captive into Secularism/carnality (idolizing & copying secular musicians, glorification of the self (the gospel musician wanting to be known and celebrated), worship of the art (creativity without giving God’s Word preeminence), love of money hence preaching the social gospel (prosperity gospel) to appeal to masses, sexual sin (fornication/adultery), vain competition and rivalry, (Favoritism in airplay/paying to get awards). It is no longer about preaching Christ Jesus to the lost and dying world that needs salvation. All in all, God is asking us to repent, turn from our wicked ways and get back to the main mission: The Great Commission. A revival is ripening!

Walman is the lead singer in the group VKP.

Walman:  It has come to that time for real & not real to be clearly distinguished. And we have a large Kenyan fan base that still appreciates, cherishes & supports the gospel industry.

Are you planning to do something with an artiste from Uganda or Tanzania soon?

Yes most definitely. We love Luganda. There are several artistes we dig into their music back here e.g., Levixone, Holy Keane, Exodus, Ruyonga and several others. We do not have a specific artiste but we plan to work on something when the opportunity arises. Tanzania we havent set our eyes yet but also if the opportunity arises to work with a gospel minister from there, we will gladly do that. As the Holy Spirit will lead us you know!

We missed your album launch, tell us how it was!

TOLOISA Album launch was a success. It can be summed up as a reunion of the people who have been part of our musical journey from way back. The event began at 1pm and ran till 7pm, the performances were great as our fans, friends and family got a chance to enjoy each song on the album.

All those who attended got a free album cd and meal. The performances were back to back with invited artistes keeping the crowd on their feet; Groove Award Winner Bahati surprised us by coming to close the event.

How do you people keep it together, what would you like to share with other groups about working together?

First of all we thank God that we are blood brothers and the age bracket not so big, so we have been friends for the longest time possible. It’s the power of prayer, a common vision and authentic love for one another which keeps us accountable to each other.

Advise to other groups is Put God first, Pray together and for one another, Practice more, Persist in pushing your stuff, be united and finally work on aligning the group’s vision with each members personal  and career vision to ensure continuity in your music ministry as you advance in age and responsibilities creep in.

Do you think the fact that you are brothers (I stand to be corrected, if you are not blood brothers) has made your working together easier?

Yes we are blood brothers. Same dad, same mum we follow each other by birth, Fatha Lody, Walman then Trigga. Although we come from a big family, we have other younger siblings.

About being easier to work together. yes. As we said earlier we have been friends the longest time, we have learnt to accept each others strengths and weaknesses, and we have learnt sacrifice, to persistent and encourage each other.

Do you have any final words to your East African and indeed African fans?

We thank God for this far we have come. We still look up to God to shape us into what He wants us to present to the world. We are still holding on to the Truth in the Word of God. One thing we really value is your genuine support. The views and subscriptions on our YouTube channel. The likes on our facebook page VKP Music and twitter @vkpmusic. Thank you so much # Teamsocapuka.

In Kenya, here is how you access the album.
