My Time – Tulia X Lillywhite ft Steve Kimore

(Verse 1 – Lilywhite)
Am coming in with no limits this time, you stay on the way you get hit
You go mistake me for Barry Allen I’ve been fueled up by the spirit of God
N soon we be getting them roofs off, ima survive when it gets tough
If this is a calling why shy off, everybody’s like she ain’t tough
Lily’s trynna do what men do, I’m trynna do what you can’t do
Am in the race to my destiny, I got my eyes on the price
But first this folks to entice; bringing more souls to Christ
They saying this ladies don’t reason they ain’t on the logic we rolling on the fruity zone
My mama said we never get the chance we only take the chances to work it out
Clocks are always the ones that would stop, time is still rushing you better catch up
But hear this the fire that’s burning inside of my soul is the same fire that goin be in my songs

(Hook – Steve)
They ask me what I do yea I’m out here grinding
Preaching to the world you can still say we fishing
N nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
Nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
They ask me what I do yea I’m out here grinding
Preaching to the world you can still say we fishing
N nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
Nobody ever pull me it’s my time it’s my time yea

(Verse 2 – Tulia)
Dropping hard on this beat make you fall outta your seat
I bring my A game that’s why you always retreat
It’s a girl’s world now got the boys on delete
God, Family, Hustle I got all I need
I burn on my degree all I’m leaving is debris
I keep it one hundred you can’t underrate me
Grind all day work my way up the mainstream
Been a long time coming I’m living my day dream
I’m a lady of my status, never judge me by my gender
Climbing up the social ladder, it ain’t easy but I won’t tire
And I’m bringing my own fire and I’ll keep on going higher
Burning hotter than that solar make these haters wanna holla

(Hook – Steve)
They ask me what I do yea I’m out here grinding
Preaching to the world you can still say we fishing
N nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
Nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
They ask me what I do yea I’m out here grinding
Preaching to the world you can still say we fishing
N nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
Nobody ever pull me it’s my time it’s my time yea

(Bridge: Lilywhite x Tulia)
We make miracles happen got the boys all out in hiding
It’s a revolution got the ladies in position
Ain’t no competition we say it they listen
Ain’t no competition we say it they listen

(Hook – Steve)
They ask me what I do yea I’m out here grinding
Preaching to the world you can still say we fishing
N nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
Nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
They ask me what I do yea I’m out here grinding
Preaching to the world you can still say we fishing
N nobody ever pull me out if it ain’t God
Nobody ever pull me it’s my time it’s my time yea

SILENT HEAVENS

WRITTEN BY: Imani

I couldn’t believe my eyes. I thought that my ears deceived me too. It felt like some of those times when you wish that time could fly so fast. That all clocks could strike thirteen. I wished my past could be carried away by a swift neck-breaking whirlwind. My head was so cramped and my eyes itchy with fatigue but still my afternoon didn’t seem to come to an end. The silence was deafening!!

What kind of life is this? Why can’t the long wait come to an end? It felt like the minute-hand on my watch had stood still and my calendar dates stuck on one long day. It felt like a heavy truck glued in the mud with no hope of ever moving even half an inch.

I raised my voice towards the heavens so loudly that I was afraid the whole world could hear me. My voice echoed across the thick green terrain. Hours later, the fierce looking clouds stared at me as if they would fall off the sky and run after me. What did I do wrong? I couldn’t get it. Still no sign. What do I do? I lay down with my head touching the ground because I couldn’t look up any more.

I sobbed in distress. My heart was heavy. I said my prayer a dozen more times but still nothing! Seconds had turned to minutes, minutes to hours and hours to many days. A year later I couldn’t see the sun rise or even set. My eyes didn’t even seem to trace the horizon of hope. Everything was dark. Darker than the deepest pit. Darker than the darkest coal on earth. I had to leave. With my hurting self, I just had to start moving.

My feet were feeble and very sore. Just as I rose up to walk, I heard a soft small voice like a flute so many meters away. It got clearer and I heard the best words ever! The serenity in my heart was incomprehensible.

“My son, why are you in despair? I am the Sovereign Lord and my thoughts are not like yours, neither are my ways. I never sleep nor slumber. How you perceive everything in your life is not the way I do. Some things in life are best learned in the darkest moments of your life and I need you to trust me more?  Did you know that the dry desert in your life draws you more to the river of life? In the silence is where my answer is. My desire is that you trust the miracle even when it’s not already there. I love you so much to let you go. I am with you.”

“Are you going through the darkest moments in your life and it feels like the heavens are silent? Praise Him with songs of thanksgiving! Desire Him more and allow Him to teach your heart to wait. If Abraham and Sarah didn’t wait, what would have become of their generation? Would Job receive the double portion of His wealth and riches either? May be through your waiting is when others will see God. It’s not easy but it’s worth it!”

Psalm 46:10, “Be still and know that I am God”

PERSPECTIVE POWER: THROUGH GOD’S EYES

It was a stroll. An ‘eye’ stroll. A glimpse outside the window, four floors down! An empty field is what I saw…a man leaning on a bending tree too. Fast glance to my left, trees were swaying lazily, the rotation of windmills on the horizon stole my attention, and then I spotted a ‘Squishy’ lorry.  All in a matter of seconds!

I remember that dull afternoon and something in my mind unlocked. You know, in life what you choose to see matters. We had this analogy about the glass being half-full and half-empty and it all trickles down to the life’s ordeals and what we choose to learn from them. This reminds me of a few months back when I was in town and I passed by these two lovely ladies who were very excited to see each other. I could feel their excitement because of the way they embraced cordially and joy was engraved all over their faces. “Happy new year…” they both told one another!

As I walked past the ladies, I was already wondering how they would still be wishing one another a happy new year in April (already four months down the line). How? It seemed odd to me to still see a new year when it was already four months down. It became real to me that actually that’s the same way we view our life’s status quo time and again.

Have you ever recovered from an illness but all you remember is the pain and the turmoil you went through? It may not be an illness but may be God saved you from a serious accident but all you recall are the bruises and the injuries you had! It’s similar to when soldiers go to battle and only few of them survive. Would it be great for them to keep dwelling in the past? Would it be great to keep hearing their sad ordeals and how some of them broke their arms and legs during the war? With God it doesn’t work like that. Sometimes God sends us to the battle field so that later on we can be remnants to tell of the salvation story. Perspective!

They say in the ant’s house the dew is a flood. They also say that what the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. What do you see? Our illusion detemines our vision. This reality has really compelled my heart to write about what we see. It is just to remind us to see through God’s eyes and not our own.  What do you see and what does God really want you to see? It’s crystal clear to me that our perspective in life is determined by the level of our faith. Why are you strong today even after such a hurting moment in the past? Why are you still standing even after the hard falls?

I’m not an exception either. As I write this I’m challenging myself to see through the eyes of the Most High too. Where He sees victory for me I’ll choose to see it too. Where God sees tranquility I won’t allow the fierce storm to steal my peace. I’ll choose to see a new beginning even after it all seems to be coming to an end. In the middle of the roughest week I’ll choose to see a fresh new morning… even when all is dark and quiet. It’s also during those times when the rain hits hard, that I’ll rejoice because my worries will be washed away:)

“Small things become big and big things become small when life is put into the right perspective”

"Life is all about how God sees it. Don’t be afraid of new beginnings.
Don’t fear when defeat steals your joy. Look up and leave it to the Most High.
Learn His perspective language!"

Reflections:

  • Numbers 13: 30-33,“Caleb told the people to be quiet and listen to Moses. Caleb said, “Let’s go now and take possession of the land. We should be more than able to conquer it.” But the men who had gone with him said, “We can’t attack those people! They’re too strong for us!” So they began to spread lies among the Israelites about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored is one that devours those who live there. All the people we saw there are very tall.  We saw Nephilim there. (The descendants of Anak are Nephilim.) We felt as small as grasshoppers, and that’s how we must have looked to them.”
  • Acts 3:6, “Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
  • 1 Samuel 17: 38-40, “Then Saul dressed David in his own tunic. He put a coat of armor on him and a bronze helmet on his head. David fastened on his sword over the tunic and tried walking around, because he was not used to them. “I cannot go in these,” he said to Saul, “because I am not used to them.” So he took them off.  Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd’s bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine.”
